About the event
Great journalism deserves to be seen, understood, and acted upon. Yet many important investigations and public interest stories struggle to reach the audiences they were created to serve. Audience engagement is often treated as something that happens after publication, rather than a strategic process that begins long before a story is published.
The Audience Engagement Lab is designed to change that.
These intensive, hands-on sessions will help journalists and newsroom leaders rethink how they design, publish, distribute, and sustain impactful journalism. Rather than focusing solely on social media promotion, participants will learn how to build meaningful engagement strategies that connect journalism with communities, decision-makers, and the people most affected by the issues being reported.
The Lab combines practical instruction with collaborative problem-solving, ensuring that every participant leaves with an audience engagement strategy tailored to a real reporting project.
